Looking for a comparison of Universal’s Cabana Bay vs. Endless Summer resorts? We have spent time at all of these resorts and are sharing all the details. In this post I am comparing the Universal value resorts to help you decide which is the best pick for your Universal trip.
As a family of five we are always looking for the best deals on accommodations during our trips to the theme parks. That usually means booking a stay at a Value resort to stretch our vacation budget.
Universal has 3 hotels in the Value Inn & Suites category that offer a different vacation experience and a different price point. Each are great but do have pros and cons to staying.
We have stayed at Cabana Bay and the Endless Summer resorts during many different trips to Universal Orlando and today I am sharing what you need to know to plan your stay.

Cabana Bay vs. Endless Summer
Before we start comparing the resorts it is important to understand there are 3 resorts in the Value Inn & Suites category. Cabana Bay Beach Resort and the two Endless Summer Resorts: Dockside Inn & Suites and Surfside Inn & Suites.
When deciding on the best place to stay at Universal for your family you should always compare a few important things before making your final decision.
For me the most important things are as followed:
- What is there to do at the Resort? Amenities? Overall vibe?
- Nightly Cost? Can I get any special deals during the dates of travel?
- Family Suites at each resort: How does it fit my family?
- Perks to the theme parks

Amenities
I am going to start with the fact that Cabana Bay wins this hands down. Cabana Bay has a pool with a water slide, lazy river, bowling alley, quick service dining, and arcade. It had a larger resort feel and offers different types of accommodations (Courtyard and Towers).
The Endless Summer Resorts are copycats of each other and both have a pool, arcade, and quick service dining area.
All three resorts offer daily activities, nightly movies by the pool, and poolside games. Cabana Bay is really one of the best mid-range resorts on property when it comes to theme and things to do on property.

Cost
Average nightly rates of the hotels fluctuate depending on time of visit. Below you will find the rates I recently found when I did a search for a November 2025 visit.
- Cabana Bay Beach Resort: $189.00/night for Family Suite, Check latest prices for Cabana Bay.
- Dockside Inn & Suites: $199.10/night for 2-Bedroom Suite, Check latest Dockside Inn rates.
- Surfside Inn & Suites: $199.00/night for 2-Bedroom Suite, Check latest Surfside Inn rates.
Family Suites
We have never stayed at the standard rooms at either of these resorts because we are a family of five but we have stayed at the family suites at all three of these resorts on numerous visits.
We’ve experienced the family suites from when our kids were all under ten to now when they are all teens.
I go into more details on everything about the family suites at Cabana Bay in my post: Cabana Bay Beach Resort Review. The basics are that the Courtyard and Tower building have family suites.
These rooms can fit up to 6 guests and have two queen beds and a pull out sofa. There is also a small kitchenette area with a microwave, refrigerator, and small bar sitting area.
They are 430 square feet with one bathroom. The rooms bring the retro theme into the rooms with orange and blue hues. Overall I really like this room but the Endless Summer has family suites that in my opinion offer more comfort.

Dockside Inn & Suites and Surfside Inn & Suites offer 2-Bedroom suites with 3 queen size beds. For us this is much better than a pull out sofa. There is the main room with 2 queen beds, picnic table seating area with refrigerator, microwave, and sink. A bathroom and vanity plus a separate bedroom with a queen size bed.
This makes the space of the room seem larger than the 440 feet and gives families a bit more room to stretch out during breaks or naps.
Dockside Inn & Suites and Surfside Inn & Suites are often close in nightly rate but there have been times where one is significantly lower than the other. When that is the case I choose the least expensive one at the time of my travel. The rooms are nearly identical.

Perks to The Theme Parks
All three of the resorts offer the same perks as the other the only difference would be location. Guests staying at the resort receive early park admission as well as complimentary transportation.
This is where location comes into play.
If you are staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort you have access to a walking path to the Universal Orlando Resort complex (Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk) as well as bus transportation to all the parks and Epic Universe. The walking path will take about 15-20 minutes and taking the bus can be faster.

Guests staying at the Endless Summer Resorts are basically in the middle of all the theme parks. They are equal distance from Epic Universe and the Universal Orlando Resort complex. The bus ride to and from the parks will be about 10 minutes to anywhere you want to go at Universal.
Some guests will walk from the Endless Summer Resorts. We have never done that and I don’t really recommend it, but it is walkable with sidewalks and will take about 30 minutes.

My Final Thoughts
I’ve really enjoyed our stay at all three of these resorts for different reasons. Cabana Bay Beach Resort has the best vibe. I love walking around the courtyard at night and enjoying a meal at Bayliner Diner.
The Endless Summer resorts offer better rooms for families that need more space. I like having 3 beds over the 2 beds and a pull out sofa you will find at Cabana Bay.
When making your decision determine how much time you will be spending at the resort. If you want to plan a day off or a few pool days, Cabana Bay offers much more to do at the resort.
If your goal is a place to crash after a long day at the theme parks Endless Summer may be a better choice for you.
For my family we usually decide where to stay based on the nightly rate, how long our trip is, and what parks we plan to visit. For example if you are only visiting Epic Universe you would want to choose an Epic Universe hotel over any of the other hotels at Universal.
My biggest tip for your Universal trip is to stay on property. It will enhance your trip by saving time and money. Whichever Universal hotel you choose you will have an awesome vacation.
