If you love Universal Classic Monsters you are going to want to dine at Das Stakehaus at Epic Universe. This vampire themed casual dining spot is a fun and delicious experience to include in your day at the park.

As soon as you enter Das Stakehaus you feel swept up into the theme and design. Much like Mead Hall and Toadstool Cafe, Das Stakehaus knocks it out of the park for immersive dining.

Das Stakehaus is set in an old inn built over ancient catacombs with vampire relics and artifacts around the room. The menu is also “vampire” inspired making it a perfect fit for the Dark Universe land at Epic Universe.

We dined there as a family of 5, so lets get into what we ordered and my review of Das Stakehaus at Universal’s Epic Universe.

Das StakeHaus at Epic Universe

Das Stakehaus is a casual dining restaurant open for lunch and dinner at Epic Universe. You do not need reservations and guests can mobile order once seated at a table.

If you prefer to order with cash or from the counter there are areas to do so. Throughout the dining area the artifacts tell a story of the vampires and as well as the history of Dark Moor (the village in Dark Universe).

Menu

Das Stakehaus has burgers, fish, and chicken entrees that are inspired by the theme of the place. These include “Blood” Orange Chicken and Carved Stake Steak. You can view the full menu here, but for this post I want to share what we ordered, what it cost, and should you go.

What We Ordered

There are five of us and for this meal we ordered 4 different dishes as well as dessert.

Our Das Stakehaus order:

  • Fish on a Stake (2)
  • Bits and Pieces (Meatloaf on a Stake)
  • Das Burger
  • Tender Skewers (Kids Meal)
  • Red Velvet Death

The Bits and Pieces and the Fish on a Stake have sides of Mashed Potatoes and Veggies. The food was all very well cooked and the sides were delicious.

I need to share a tip about Das Burger that may be a bit TMI but the bun is dyed a dark black color, and it is not digested well. From everything I have heard and from our first hand experience, it does not upset stomachs but it does come out blue over the next few days. I felt it was important to give you fair warning!

All of the entrees at Das Stakehaus were great. There was something for everyone in my family to eat and we all enjoyed it.

For dessert we ordered the Red Velvet Death which is a red velvet heart coffin cake with puffed rice maggots and chocolate crumbs. If you can get beyond the look of maggots on your dessert this is a really good one.

I kind of love that the Universal Creative team just went for it with the theme. Yes it feels kind of gross but I stand by that the food is delicious.

For my family of five our dinner at Das Stakehaus cost $106.97. This was for 5 entrees and a dessert and is in the average range for dining at Epic Universe.

My Opinion: Should You Go

I definitely recommend including Das Stakehaus into your day at Epic Universe. It is a little creepy with the Classic Monster theme but was great for my family of five.

There were plenty of options to choose from on the menu including kids meals, vegan and allergen friendly meals, and salads.

The red lights rotate on an off during your dining experience.

I love that the theme park creativity doesn’t stop when you enter the restaurant. Dining at Das Stakehaus feels like you are actually in Darkmoor Village. It is a great dining experience from the ambiance to the food.
