toadstool cafe orlando entrance

Step inside the Toadstool Cafe and be transported to a world that features Chef Toad and more in this super immersive casual dining restaurant at Epic Universe. In this post I am sharing my review of Toadstool Cafe Orlando, what to expect, and if you should eat here when you visit Epic Universe.

Toadstool Cafe was one of the restaurants at Epic Universe I was most excited about. Super Nintendo World is amazingly themed and entering it a giant mushroom to dine was a really cool experience.

As you walk in you see windows of Chef Toad cooking meals. It is all very cartoonish and cute, exactly what you would expect when you are eating inside a mushroom from the Super Mario World.

Insider Tip: Purchase tickets before you arrive to get the best deal and save time!

Toadstool Cafe Orlando at Epic Universe

Toadstool Cafe Orlando is located inside Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe. It is walk-in, guests do not need to make reservations at Toadstool Cafe in the Orlando park.

Once inside you will find a table and mobile order from your table. If you prefer to counter order you can, just let them know your table number so they can deliver your food once ready.

The atmosphere was very impressive but we were in the middle when it came to the food. There were some really great wins but also items that fell a little flat.

Menu

Toadstool Cafe offers burgers and pasta dishes as well as desserts and beverages. You can view the full menu here. For this post I want to share what we ordered as a family of five and my review of the food at Toadstool Cafe.

What We Ordered

We are a family of 5. (2 adults, 3 teens). We wanted to try a few different menu items so we ordered and planned to share the dishes to get a taste of Toadstool Cafe.

Our Toadstool Cafe order:

  • Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots
  • Mario Burger
  • Power-Up Spaghetti Marinara (Kids Meal)
  • Bowser’s Fireball Challenge
  • Chef Toad Herb Chicken Special

We started our meal with the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots. These were good and I wish they came with 5 but we were able to cut them in half to share. The dipping sauce is a spicy marinara.

My son ordered the burger and said it was very good. The Mario Burger comes with Bacon, Mushroom, and Cheese served on a brioche bun with truffle French fries. The cute hat is a nice touch to the meal.

My husband tried the chicken and he felt the portion was not very large for the cost. The food tasted good but he was left wanting more.

We tried Bowser’s Fireball Challenge. This 1lbss. spicy meatball is topped with mozzarella cheese and a fiery mushroom marinara sauce. The meatball was good but be prepared, this is spicy!

The Power-Up Spaghetti Marinara is a mild sauce served with parmesan crisp, a Toadstool cheesy garlic knot, and a coin cookie. This is a great value and good choice if you don’t want spicy sauce.

My Honest Recap

At the end of the day, here’s what really stuck with me. No fluff, just the takeaways I’d share if we were talking over coffee or texting late at night.

Toadstool Cafe is adorable. The theming is really cute. During your dining experience clouds roll in as Bowser starts to fire off Bombs like in the game. This all happens on screens around the restaurant.

We would maybe eat here again but it is not at the top of our list, we want to try other spots at Epic Universe. The sauce was just too spicy. Not sure if you could request less spice but it was a bit much for me.

I would recommend at least walking in and looking at the menu to see if it might be a good fit for your family. For our family of 5 the cost of lunch at Toadstool Cafe was $94.73. This is on par with what lunch cost at Universal. To cut cost consider splitting meals and ordering kids meals.

We also skipped dessert, which looked really cute but we were trying to save in our budget. If I visit again I will probably order a kids meal and a dessert.
