Chocolate infused dishes are found throughout the menu at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen, but is it a good choice for everyone? In this post I am sharing my Toothsome Chocolate Emporium review and if you should include it in your visit to Universal Orlando.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal Orlando Resort is a unique steam-punk themed restaurant at Universal CityWalk.
From the outside, you see the smoke stacks and the steam punk factory look. As you enter the smell of sweets and the staff welcomes you.
The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen is restaurant theming at its best.
There is also a cute gift shop with treats to satisfy a sweet tooth. Guests that would prefer to only purchase dessert can order from a counter in the lobby.
Tooothsome Chocolate Emporium at Universal Orlando
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is located at Universal CityWalk Orlando. (There is a Universal Studios Hollywood location as well.) It is situated between Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
It is a table service restaurant and because it is a popular restaurant, expect a very long wait during peak hours. You can make a dining reservation ahead of time, which I highly suggest you do.
If you are arriving as a walk up they will send a text message when your table is ready. The dining room is on the first and second floor. Some of the tables offer great views of CityWalk. There is also an outdoor patio for dining.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast kitchen is themed around the story of Penelope Toothsome and her adventure to find her family.
Update: As of December 2024 Penelope and Jaques are discontinued at the restaurant. Professor Doctor Penelop Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome created the chocolate emporium to share her love of chocolate with the world. Along with her robot friend Jacques they go on a journey to find the best places to share their love of chocolate. They used to walk around and interact with guests. This is a disappointing removal, they added to the fun of the restaurant.
Menu
Some of the most popular menu items are: Philly Cheesesteak Rolls, Pork Belly Sliders, Truffle Fries, Totchos (Tater Tot Nachos), Wild Mushroom Risotto, Southern Fried Chicken BLT, Brisket and Wild Mushroom Meatloaf, Chocolate Waffle (this has a marshmallow fluff like topping). They also have Crepes, unique French Toast options, and quiche.
The menu items are on the pricier side but you will see in the pictures below you will receive full meals. They do not skimp on portions. You can view the full menu here.
If you do not want a full dining experience you can stop at the Milkshake Bar to have specialty dessert options. They have a milkshake flight which allows you to try 5 different options. Guests can pick from incredible ice cream sundaes and treats that plus up your average Rice Krispies, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, or Chocolate Chip Cookies.
What We Ordered
The menu is actually rather large with many different options. We have dined at Toothsome at least 3 times during different Universal trips. A few of our favorites:
- Chocolate Almond Bread w/ Salted Caramel Butter
- Too Chocolate Stout(Beer)
- Grilled Teriyaki Salmon
- Pub It Up Burger
- Waffles & Chicken Fingers
- Chocolate Waffle
I highly recommend the Chocolate Almond Bread. We order it every time we visit. It was warm out of the oven and the butter was sweet but not overly sweet. Everyone at the table liked it.
We decided to try the Too Chocolate Stout based on a recommendation and I am so glad we did! We both like beer but I typically don’t like the darker beers. It is created specifically for the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and you can only purchase it at the restaurant.
I ordered the Grilled Teriyaki Salmon and it was so nice to add some much-needed vegetables to my meals this week. My husband ordered the Pub It Up burger and loved how unique it was! He loved the queso on the burger and the crunch from the potato chips.
If you have a sweet tooth you may want to try to waffles on the menu. These are decadent and sweet and delicious.
The kid’s menu offered Waffle & Bacon, Chicken Fingers with Fries & Apple Sauce, Mini-Burgers with Fries & Apple Sauce, Marinara Garganelli Pasta, and Chicken with Rice. (As of writing this kids meals were $6.99)
We also ordered 2 different milkshakes to share. Dulce de Leche is salted caramel ice cream, Dulce de Leche, salted pretzels, fresh whipped cream and chocolate cigars. Red Velvet is vanilla ice cream, red velvet cupcake, raspberry sauce, rainbow sprinkles, fresh whipped cream, and a cherry.
What you Need to Know When Visiting the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium:
- You can make reservations here.
- Dining at Toothsome is not cheap. Check the menu for updated prices but expect to pay at least $20.00 per entree.
- Arrive early, before 5:00pm or try lunch. If you are visiting after park closes expect a long wait time.
- Milkshakes are in to go cups. They are plastic and you can take them with you. We even put our cupcake in a to-go container. (It went perfect with coffee for breakfast the next day.)
- Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is located at City Walk and you do not need park admission to visit.
My Final Thoughts
My first time visiting Toothsome we had an amazing time! From our appetizer of chocolate almond bread with caramel butter to my salmon and vegetables entrée and finishing with a red velvet cupcake milkshake, Toothsome does not disappoint.
The atmosphere is immersive. The food is incredible. The milkshakes…amazing. Toothsome should be on every families “must-see” list when visiting Orlando, Florida.
Unfortunately, on our next visit I wasn’t as impressed.
The wait times were very long as we waited for our food. One of my kids even fell asleep as we waited. It was coming off of 2020 and I know it had more to do with staffing issues than the restaurant. We did try a third time and had a much better visit.
For a first time guest I would include Toothsome in your Universal trip. The prices are high but on par with most of the sit-downs at CityWalk. It is also a fun atmosphere and work trying for yourself.
Overall the food was still delicious and although we don’t visit every trip to Universal we do enjoy including it in our trips. It is also included on my 10 best places to eat at Universal post so it is worth considering for your next visit.
